THE CHALLENGE

JT has worked with Mount Sinai Hospital on various initiatives, projects and crises for years, and with Sinai Health System on strategic communications and media relations since 2014. Sinai, which includes four hospitals, a physician group and two institutes focused on urban health and community issues, is Chicago’s premier safety net hospital system. In 2015, we began working with Sinai on the digital front, developing target advertising and social media campaigns.

THE APPROACH

JT has provided media and message training for the highest-level executives at Sinai. We also work to broaden Sinai connections and relationships in Chicago’s business, civic and philanthropic communities. We are a strategic partner to Sinai crisis communications issues, and provides event and strategic support for Sinai Connects, its annual speaker series featuring unique visionaries tackling a range of international and domestic issues. Our work includes identification and development of story ideas, and outreach to news media to generate positive coverage of the Sinai Health System. In 2016, JT worked with Sinai to develop media strategy and placement for its pilot Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU), an alternative to the standard emergency room for patients dealing with mental and behavioral health issues, CSU patients receive immediate access to psychiatric and behavioral health professionals who can rapidly diagnose and treat their conditions, including prescribing medications.

THE RESULTS

  • Dozens of placements in print and broadcast outlets, including: Crain’s Chicago Business and the New York Times
  • 3,280,120 digital impressions
  • 20 percent increased engagement on Facebook
