Mary Patrick Retiring from JT; New Leadership Announced Tomorrow

After 40 years at Jasculca Terman Strategic Communications (JT), I have decided to retire, with my last day being June 30. It is time, for so many reasons, to step down and begin a new chapter in my life.

JT was only four years old when I started, and I have had the remarkable opportunity to grow with the firm, help shape and form it through decades of challenges, change, and innumerable accomplishments. I truly feel like one of the luckiest people ever to have found such an amazing work home for so many years … one that still, every day, challenges my brain, touches my heart, teaches me something new, and has gifted me with THE best and brightest people as colleagues, collaborators and dear friends.

Why retire now?

I want some time while I am still relatively fit and agile to experience more -- play more tennis, take longer hikes, and travel with my husband, who is retiring as well. I plan to volunteer more – contribute in more structured and meaningful ways to issues of personal importance. We bought a house in southwest Michigan three years ago, a short walk from the lake, and we plan to move there permanently later this year to soak up the peace and beauty daily. Our wonderful daughters are now 30 and 27 and are well established in Chicago and just two hours from our new home -- an area they have been going to every summer since birth. I’d also like to spend more time with my mom who is nearing 90.

I’ve been the CEO for seven years, and a managing partner for 14 – I do feel it’s time for fresh leadership, energy and perspectives. We have built a tremendous team of talented professionals and Rick, Jim, and I are excited to announce tomorrow whom we have chosen to lead JT into the future.

I cannot thank Rick and Jim enough for bringing me in, supporting my ideas and growth, and allowing me to be an integral part of their magic. I don’t think they dreamed of the enormous loyalty they would engender by creating, empowering and sustaining such an energetic, high quality, sought-after and successful firm. I am mighty grateful for the decades of excellent, impactful work, and a whole lot of joy in the journey.
