Nearly 400 Chicago business, community and workforce development leaders joined Mayor Rahm Emanuel at the Standard Club on Friday morning to celebrate Skills for Chicagoland’s Future’s (Skills) employer and community partners at its second annual Employment Champions Breakfast.

For the last four years, Skills – a public-private partnership that meets the hiring needs of employers by offering innovative solutions to place qualified, unemployed and underemployed candidates into available positions – has changed the lives of thousands of Chicagoland residents by connecting them with job opportunities. To date, Skills has placed more than 3,100 formerly under- and unemployed Chicago-area job seekers into positions with more than 50 Chicagoland employers. At the event, Skills recognized U.S. Secretary of Labor Tom Perez, CDW and the Chicago Department of Aviation for their support of Skills’ mission.

JT provided strategic counsel on event logistics and program development, coordinated logistics for VIP attendees, drafted speaker remarks and provided day-of stage management and guest registration for the Breakfast. JT also coordinated media relations surrounding the event, securing a story in the Chicago Tribune that examined Skills’ impact on Chicago-area job seekers, the unique nature of Skills’ workforce model and Skills’ plan for national expansion.
