Video Calls for Better Access to Care – And a Cure – for Metastatic Cancer Patients

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, JT produced a video highlighting a day in the life of Erin, a 38-year-old woman living with metastatic breast cancer. The video is part of the It’s About Time campaign — which encourages metastatic cancer patients and their families to share their stories in an effort to build broader understanding of this disease, as well as the need for more research dollars toward treatments and a cure.

The video was shot with a cell phone — a more organic and less obtrusive approach — in an effort to make it more comfortable for Erin to share her difficult story without the intrusion of a big camera and lights.

Now in its fifth year, JT has worked with Gilda’s Club Chicago and 50 partner organizations to elevate the stories of and advocate for metastatic cancer patients, their families, friends and caregivers.

The campaign started as an effort to raise awareness of metastatic breast cancer, and has since expanded to add the voices of other metastatic cancer patients — because they all face similar challenges and heartaches when it comes to accessing care and treatment.

The campaign is calling on state legislators to support policies that help these patients more easily access the best care and treatment available. It’s about time.
