JT Celebrates Urban Prep Students’ College Acceptances and Launches the 10AndChange Campaign
Few institutions have been interwoven into the fabric of their community the way Sinai has in Chicago. Originally founded to serve Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe who started settling on the West Side in the late 1800s, the community around the hospital has changed many times over, but Sinai has been an anchor, consistently delivering healthcare – and hope – to those who need it most.
Student achievement was celebrated with great enthusiasm, when JT client Urban Prep announced that 100% of its 252 seniors have been admitted to a four-year college or university. The announcement, which has become an annual tradition at Urban Prep, also marked the launch of “10AndChange” Urban Prep’s 10th anniversary campaign to refocus the narrative of Black boys/young men on positive stories. Students erupted into loud cheers when the cast of “Barbershop: The Next Cut,” including Ice Cube, Cedric the Entertainer, Regina Hall, Common, and Deon Cole surprised students to help make the announcements.
