Lakeview Pantry Celebrates Grand Opening of New, Permanent Home
Elected officials, community members and hunger-relief advocates joined with volunteers and staff to celebrate the grand opening of the new, permanent home of the Lakeview Pantry, which has served Chicago’s North Side for 46 years and is the largest food pantry in the City. The pantry’s new 7,500 square foot building, located at 3945 N. Sheridan Road, nearly doubles the pantry’s previous space and provides more room for its food distribution and social service programs.
JT secured media stories and managed all event details for the “grocery bag” ribbon cutting that included Chicago’s First Lady Amy Rule, Congressman Mike Quigley, Illinois Senate President John J. Cullerton, Illinois State Representative Sara Feigenholtz, Alderman James Cappelman, Greater Chicago Food Depository CEO Kate Maehr, Lakeview Pantry Executive Director Kellie O’Connell and dozens of board members, donors, volunteers clients and staff. JT also handled the logistics for a three-hour community day/open house for neighbors and community members to get to know the new space.
