Looking Back to Look Forward: JT’s CEO Reflects on 2024

It’s that time of year – when we reflect and reminisce and also think about the future…

It’s been a big year for JT!

In January of 2024, we moved into new office space – our first move in 43 years!  Same neighborhood, very new look and feel. The new space is fresh and open, and none of us are looking back. It promotes brainstorming, creativity and teamwork, and we are loving it!

We also welcomed a few new young professionals to the JT family who bring fresh perspectives and terrific energy, and our team has never been stronger.

JT came together Wednesday night for our annual holiday party. This year we had a blast at Bad Axe Throwing in the West Loop.

We have tackled some huge issues and communications challenges this year and are very proud of the impact JT is making on building health equity; mental health services; environmental justice; myriad education issues like divestment, protests, free speech and hazing; a living wage; pension security; women’s rights; mergers; leadership changes and much more. We media trained dozens of leaders, created powerful videos, managed bold and visionary events, created impactful digital posts and ads, managed major crises, conducted neighborhood dialogues, and built champions around important issues of the day.

One key project to highlight is our comprehensive, proactive work on the One Nation, One Project Arts for EveryBody Campaign – a national initiative culminating in major arts events in 18 cities all across the nation on the same day, all designed to show the link of arts participation to healthier communities. We built the website, created video, established and grew highly popular digital channels from scratch, and generated more than 200 newsclips across the country.

We have all felt the sharp divides and polarization in politics and civic work, and one of our major goals in 2025 is to bring more people together, bridge those divides and bring back more civil discourse in our country. JT will always seek ways to be inclusive, build understanding and use communications for good.

We wish you and yours a happy holiday season and good health and JOY in the new year!
